To Save My Soul
Early in his adolescence, Isaiah discovered that he could not live a life based on the pursuit of money. He felt obliged to wholly envelope his life in art. He chose knowing the difficult sacrifices that I’d be making and the added strife that he'd have to overcome as a Black man.
Isaiah wrestles with the paradox of living in personal truth while suffering the blows of a world that makes no space for it. He must survive in a destructive system and simultaneously find a way to create a new one. Through his work, he confronts the struggle of the Black experience; how Black people must maintain hope, and the pursuit of it, within an environment that continually suggests we do otherwise.
